An Open Letter From A Nigerian Student On Fostering Unity & Values In NANS Platform

By Cynthia Maduekwe

Dear Members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS),

Sincerely and humbly extending warmest greetings in solidarity with the vibrant and dynamic student community of Nigeria. In the aftermath of the recently concluded election, it is imperative to address the emerging challenges of disunity and factionalism that threaten the core values of this esteemed association most especially of the greatest, ever conscious and unintimidated Nigerian students.

As one of the National Association of Nigerian Students, recognise the pivotal role this platform plays in shaping the future generation of leaders in our great nation. It is incumbent upon us to uphold the true essence of NANS, transforming it into a beacon of commendable values and exemplary practices.

In navigating the intricate landscape of student politics, we acknowledge that mistakes of the past must be rectified. Our commitment lies not only in engaging in politics but also in demonstrating superior service through collaboration, dedication, passion, zeal, determination, consistency, resilience, cooperation, discipline, competency and commitment. It is through unity and shared purpose that we can effectively correct the errors of the past while setting a course for a brighter future.

Congratulating the well-deserving executives’ work done so far and those who had been screened as well contested and have emerged victoriously whether as a winner or not in the recent elections. Your dedication to the student body has not gone unnoticed, and we trust that your leadership will embody the ideals that NANS stands for.

In the pursuit of oneness, we must recognise that the unity of the whole body is paramount. A fragmented National Association of Nigerian Students(NANS) risks negatively impacting the Zones, States, JCCs, and other student bodies’ leadership platforms. To avoid this, we must work collectively to find common ground, fostering a sense of togetherness that transcends regional and ideological boundaries.

As we move forward, let us resolve to strengthen the bonds that tie us together. The responsibility to shape the destiny of our nation’s youth rests in our hands. Let us embrace this duty with unwavering commitment, ensuring that the National Association of Nigerian Students(NANS) remains a shining example – a brand worth commending and emulating.

Together, we can build a legacy of unity, integrity, and excellence for generations to come.
