Bakassi Fish Festival BOT Chair Appointed SA NDDC

The governor of Cross River State, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu has appointed the Chairman of the Bakassi Fish Festival Board of Trustees (BoT), Hon. Ani Esin as the Special Adviser, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

According to a press release signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Emmanuel Ogbeche, on Thursday (Sept. 21), Ani with 13 others was appointed into various offices.

Ani, a political icon of note, had previously held both elected and appointed offices as Chairman, Bakassi Local Government Council and Deputy Chief of Staff to ex-governor Ben Ayade amongst others.

In another development, the second edition of the Bakassi Fish Festival which comes up on September 26 and 27, 2023, has continued to receive support, recommendations and approvals from several eminent personalities.

The President of Ikang Joint Assembly, Chief (Engr.) Eyo Ita, in his show of support, has donated his magnificent event, THE DOME, Municipality Garden, Calabar Municipality for the hosting of the pageantry segment of the Bakassi Fish Festival which comes up on Tuesday, September 26.

Others who have assured its organisers of support include the Consul General of Equatorial Guinea in Calabar, His Excellency, Iidefonso Ondo Nchama, member resenting Bakassi LGA in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Eyo Bassey Edet, the immediate past representative of the area in the State Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Ekpo Ekpo Bassey, the Chief of Staff to the Cross River State Governor, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar, the Chairman of Bakassi Arbitration Panel, His Royal Highness, Etinyin Effiom Bassey amongst others.

Government through the State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts And Culture, Chief Robert Abubakar Ewa, mentioned that the festival has been included in the state’s tourism calendar.

Findings show that wider consultations have been made and necessary modalities have been put in place to ensure a hitch-free and successful Festival.
