VIDEO: Abuja residents invade warehouse, loot foodstuffs, others

A repeat of October 2020 is here again as residents of Abuja allegedly invaded a warehouse, looting foodstuffs and other valuables.

According to videos and photos circulating on social media on Sunday, the looted warehouse belongs to the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA.

According to Trending Explained on X (formerly Twitter), the warehouse is located in Karimo, Phase 3 Region Abuja.

The handle @TrendingEx said the cause of the looting was hunger and that the situation was under police control.

“NEMA is trending because hungry Nigerians have looted the National Emergency Management Agency’s warehouse in Abuja because of their teeming hunger emergencies.

“The situation is now under control as Police officers are at the venue.

Located in Karimo, Phase 3 Region Abuja,” the tweet read.

Confirming the incident to PUNCH, the spokesperson for the FCT command, Josephine Adeh, verified the incident in a text message saying, “The situation is now under control.”

CONVERSEER reports that on February 20, 2024, Dangote Food Truck was attacked with foodstuffs carted away in Kaduna State.

In a similar vein, Bua Company Truck carrying food items was also attacked and carted in Kaduna State on March 1, 2024.
