Drake becomes first artist to hit 100 billion streams on Spotify

Canadian singer and rapper, Aubrey Drake Graham, known mononymously as Drake, officially becomes the first and only artist in history to reach 100 billion streams on Spotify.

Finally catching up to his ego, Drake attained the height following the new chart released by the music streaming platform on Wednesday.

Drake also became the first rapper to attain such a feat, overtaking Eminem who previously had 48.4 billion streams and Kanye West who had 47 billion streams.

12. Lil Wayne – 29.9 billion

Other records on Spotify

The Weeknd’s song ‘I Was Never There’ with Gesaffelstein surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify, marking his 14th song to achieve this milestone. This achievement brings him closer to the record held by Rihanna, Drake, and Justin Bieber, each with 15 songs over 1 billion streams.

With this song, The Weeknd extends his record as the artist with the most songs with over 900 million streams in Spotify history (24 songs).

Shakira has also surpassed 20.8 billion streams (excluding charity singles).

Nigeria Afrobeat singer, Rema, also surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify with his “Calm Down” – featuring Selena Gomez in the remix.

Baekhyun also surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify.

Baekhyun is now a billion-streaming artist on both Melon and Spotify. He has the shortest solo career among Korean male artists who have achieved this milestone.

Tyla, Gunna and Skillibeng’s “Jump” also surpassed 100 million streams on Spotify.
