May 29, 2023
Governor Prince Bassey Otu sworn in as the 16th Governor of Cross River State, alongside his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey.

May 31, 2023 – Governor Otu constitutes a Joint Taskforce on Petroleum Monitoring to ensure that petroleum products sold at the regulated price and products are not hoarded or diverted.

June 1, 2023
A. Governor Otu dissolves all committees, tax and revenue agents.

B. In the same release, the Governor directs that Heads of Local Government Administration or Directors General of Administration, should take over from the outgoing chairmen of councils and administer the running of local government councils until further notice.

C. Otu also suspends all land allocations, auctioning of government’s assets, while directing that all former appointees with government vehicles and properties to return same with immediate effect.

On that same day, Governor Otu visits the Calabar dumpsite to have firsthand account of the real situation of the site.

June 2, 2023
Governor Otu, alongside other state governors, met with President Bola Tinubu at the State House to chart a way forward as regards national integration.

June 5, 2023
Otu names Chief of Staff, Secretary to State Government, Chief Press Secretary, Acting Chief of Protocol, Security Advisers.

On that same day, the Governor constitutes a Taskforce on vehicle in possession of former appointees and contractors of government.

He also constitutes a Special Taskforce on Anti- Deforestation.

June 6, 2023
Otu orders the suspension of recruitment into the state civil service and directs a comprehensive verification civil servants and revalidations carried out in the past 6 months in the state.

June 8, 2023
Otu approves the appointment of principal aides to the Office of the Deputy Governor.

June 12, 2023
Governor Otu carries out an assessment of critical facilities in the state. In that visit, the governor made a tour round the state library, erosion affected areas, amongst others.

June 13, 2023
The 9th House of Assembly was sworn in with Rt. Hon. Elbert Ayambem elected as speaker.

June 14, 2023
Governor Otu constitutes a 33-man Taskforce to regulate mining activities in the state.

On that same date, the Governor constitutes a 7-man State Road Infrastructural Levy Committee.

June 19, 2023
Governor Otu names a new General Manager for the State Broadcasting Station – CRBC, 9 aides to his office and 9 aides to the Office of the Wife of the Governor.

He also orders the suspension of Mr Akpanke Ogar as the Executive Chairman, Cross River State Internal Revenue Service, and directed Prince Edwin Okon to resume as the Acting Chairman.

June 20, 2023
Governor Otu holds an interactive session with the staff of Governor’s Office.

June 21, 2023
Otu directs a total ban on commercial motorcycle activities around the metropolis, citing security concerns.

June 25, 2023
Otu directs the total shutdown of the Marina Resort till further notice, following an unfortunate boat mishap.

June 29, 2023
Governor Otu releases a new directive on waste disposal in the state.
