The Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC) has reduced the price of forms for the forthcoming 2024 Local Government Election.
The Commission also issued a new timetable and guidelines for the election. This was sequel to the appeal earlier made by the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) to CROSIEC.
The new forms price and timetable was contained in a resolution arising from the meeting between the CROSIEC Chairman, Dr Ekong Edet Boco, IPAC and Chairmen of various political parties on Friday in Calabar.
“The Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission in its meeting resolved that the cost of nomination fee be reduced from N5,000,000.00 (Five Million Naira) to N1,000,000.00 (One Million Naira) for Chairmanship and from N1,000,000.00 (One Million Naira) to N200,000.00 (Two Hundred Thousand Naira) for Councillorship in line with the appeal made by IPAC to the Governor.
“Also, the need to ensure a fair and credible electoral process, the Commission has graciously extended the election by one (1) week.
“Accordingly, the proposed Local Government Councils election in the State will now hold on Saturday, 2nd November 2024, while the Campaign will end on Friday, 1 November 2024.
“IPAC and other Stakeholders are enjoined to note the above changes and act accordingly. God bless you all,” the resolution signed by Boco on 4th October read.

1. Publication of Notice of Election – 25th September 2024
2. Conduct of Party Primaries including Resolution of Disputes arising from Primaries – 25th September 2024 to 15th October 2024
3. Presentation of List of Candidates – 8th October 2024 to 10th October 2024
i. Collection, completion and returns of CROSIEC Form LGE 001 and 002
ii. CROSIEC Form LGE 003 (List of candidates whose particulars have been confirmed by the Commission)
iii. CROSIEC Form LGE 004 (List of Candidates whose particulars have been queried)
4. Collection of Nomination Forms – 11th October 2024 – 13th October 2024
a) CROSIEC Form 006A
b) CROSIEC Form 006B
5. Process/Validation of Particulars of Candidates by the Commission – 14th October 2024 – 18th October 2024
6. Publication of final nomination Particulars by the Commission – 20th October 2024
7. Commencement of Campaign by Political Parties – 20th October 2024 to 25th October 2024
8. Submission of Names of polling agents from Political Parties – 14th October 2024 – 20th October 2024
