Ikom, Cross River State – The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ikom Local Government Council, Pastor (Mrs) Mercy Nsor, has emerged as the winner of the recently concluded local government council election, organised by the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC).
Pastor Nsor secured a total of 50,186 votes, representing 8.67% of the vote share. The Labour Party (LP) trailed far behind in second place, with 4,128 votes (7.04%), while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came in third with 2,937 votes (5.01%).
CROSIEC Chairman Dr Ekong Boco confirmed that Pastor Nsor met all the requirements to win the election, leading to her official declaration as the elected chairperson for the Ikom Local Government Council.
In a formal ceremony, a Certificate of Return was presented to her, on Sunday, signifying her victory and enabling her to assume office.
Pastor Nsor’s win marks a notable success for the APC in Ikom, with local supporters celebrating what they hope will be a term focused on progressive development and enhanced governance for the community.
