“We’re tired of sucking d!cks”, UNICAL students protest against randy lecturers

The University of Calabar students on Monday (August 14) came out of their closets to protest against alleged randy lecturers, one of which was Prof. Cyril Ndifon, Dean of the Faculty of Law.

CONVERSEER reports that the students under the umbrella of Law Students’ Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN) who terminated the protest at the Senate Building of the university were carrying placards with various inscriptions, one of which read “We are tired of sucking d!cks.”

The students accused Ndifon of not letting girls with big bre@st to breathe, grabbing them and manipulating of Law School list.

“Prof. Ndifon, let girls with big bre@st breathe, stop suffocating us! Enough of Law School list manipulation!

“Law girls are not bonanzas, Prof. Ndifon should stop grabbing us – the Faculty of Law is not a brothel,” the students made their request known with placards.

They also carried a placard that said: “Prof. Ndifon must go for our sanity.”

Other issues raised by the students include the sale of Law Journal, lecturers not showing up in class to lecture students, etc.

Addressing the protesting students, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Florence Obi called for calm, assuring the students of authority’s willingness to get the situation addressed.

Obi noted that the University management was ready to keep its doors open for all to access if need be.

Reacting to the accusations, Prof. Ndifon denied any involvement in s3xual harassment, high handedness and other allegations levelled against him, saying the protest was masterminded by some persons in the faculty who had sworn to do everything possible to pull him down.

“Since I defeated some persons in an election that was keenly contested, to emerge as Dean of the faculty, it hasn’t been easy. I had skipped several booby traps.

“These allegations are baseless masterminded by my detractors who had vowed to ensure that my image is dragged into the mud just because I won the faculty elections twice.

“If you look at the placards, you will discover that the placards have one person’s handwriting. Again, how come the protesters know that we were holding a meeting with the Vice Chancellor if it is not the handiwork of an insider”, Ndifon said.

He added, “This won’t work. Colleagues of mine who are bent on tarnishing my reputation just to destroy me. The question is where are the victims of s3xual harrasment?

“Can someone harass girls without the ladies coming out to raise an alarm that they were s3xually harassed?

“For Christ’s sake, I don’t teach year 2 B nor year one students, so I don’t know why they have chosen to drag my name into the mud. This was why I said earlier that the allegations were lies cooked from the pit of hell, just destroy a reputation that I had spent decades to end.”

THE PARADISE NEWS reported that in 2015, a 20-year-old Law student accused Ndifon of raping her, which led to his suspension.

Ndifon, who was then the Dean of Faculty of Law, later filed a lawsuit against UNICAL on September 21, 2016, at the National Industrial Court sitting in Calabar with suit with number: NICN/CA/01/2016.

However, the presiding judge, Honourable Justice Eunice N. Agbakoba, while delivering judgment, dismissed the suit filed by Ndifon, challenging his suspension by the University.

In 2017, Ndifon was recalled by the University of Calabar with no tangible evidence (of which we knew) of him being cleared of the alleged rape case.
