Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers has addressed speculation surrounding his future at Rangers, confirming that while his playing time has been limited, his focus remains on the team.
The 30-year-old has been Rangers’ top scorer over the past two seasons, but his struggles in front of goal have resulted in a diminished role under coach Philippe Clement.
Dessers now finds himself third in the pecking order, behind Danilo and Moroccan U-23 striker Hamza Igamane. Since December, he has started just one match.
As a result of his reduced playing time, Dessers has been linked with moves to two Serie A clubs and Ligue 1’s AS Saint-Etienne. Despite the rumors, Dessers emphasized that his commitment to Rangers remains strong.

While acknowledging that a transfer might be on the cards, he admitted that a January move could be challenging.
“Last month I lost my starting spot. The boy [Igamane] who is playing now is also a good striker, he scores. I try to support him and help him because I want the team to win, but it is difficult,” Dessers said, as quoted by The Scottish Sun.
“I don’t know what my situation is now. I can imagine that Rangers might want to earn something from me this month, but January is a difficult window. Clubs that are doing well probably already have a striker who is performing well, and few clubs that need goals will immediately have the millions ready.”
The Belgian-born Nigerian forward continued, “We’ll just have to wait and see. I’m at a great club, but I’m 30-years-old and want to play every week, preferably at Rangers. If there are different feelings about that internally, then we need to talk.”

Despite the team’s goal-scoring efficiency in Dessers’ absence, Rangers are struggling in their pursuit of the Scottish Premiership title. They currently sit 13 points behind their rivals, Celtic, in the league standings.
