The Delta State Police Command has busted a gay (same s*x marriage) and arrested 67 suspects.
CONVERSEER learned that the suspects were arrested on Monday at Teebulus Hotel, along Refinery Road, Ekpan, Delta state.
According to DSP Bright Edafe, Police Spokesperson in Delta State, the alleged gay wedding was between two males, Daniel Pius (groom) and Maxwell Ohwonowho (bride).
They were paraded at the Ekpan Police Station on Tuesday.
“Delta State Police Command has arrested 67 gay suspects at a hotel on 28/8/2023.
“They were at a suspected gay wedding ceremony between Daniel Pius ‘m’ (groom) and Maxwell Ohwonowho (bride) at Teebulus Hotel along refinery road Ekpan.
“I paraded them today at Ekpan Police Station,” Edafe posted on X (formerly Twitter).
The Command, our Reporter further learned paraded the suspected gays on various social media including X (Twitter) and Facebook LIVE.
Recall that on January 7, 2014, former President Goodluck Jonathan signed the “Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Bill” into law.
The law imposes a 14-year prison sentence on anyone who “[enters] into a same-sex marriage contract or civil union,” and a 10-year sentence on individuals or groups, including religious leaders, who “witness, abet, and aid the solemnisation of a same-sex marriage or union.” It imposes a 10-year prison sentence on those who “directly or indirectly makes public show of same-sex amorous relationship” and anyone who “registers, operates, or participates in gay clubs, societies, and organisations,” including supporters of those groups.
