Man Stabs Elder Brother to Death in Kebbi

The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Yunusa Haruna, for st@bbing his elder brother to d3ath in the Shanga Local Government Area of the state.

 

Spokesperson of the command, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, who disclosed this in a statement on Friday, January 17, 2025, said police also arrested one Abubakar Umar for st@bbing a man to d3ath in Zuru Local Government Area.

 

“On December 31, 2024, at approximately 8:00 PM, police arrested Yunusa Haruna, 25, from Bakin Turu village in Shanga LGA, for allegedly stabbing his elder brother, Isiyaku Haruna, to d3ath,” the statement read. 

 

“According to police reports, the suspect attacked his brother with a sharp knife during an altercation, leading to the victim’s d3ath. The arrest followed a swift response from officers at the Shanga Divisional Police Headquarters.

 

“In another incident on January 8, 2025, at about 4:30 PM, Abubakar Umar, 25, of Jarkasa in Zuru LGA, reportedly stabbed Mohammed Bala in the head with a knife during a disagreement, k!lling him instantly.

 

Umar is also accused of injuring Mohammed’s younger brother, Sama’ila Bala, during the altercation. Officers from the Zuru Divisional Police Headquarters promptly apprehended the suspect following the incident.”

 

Reacting to the incidents, the Commissioner of Police Bello Sani, expressed deep concern and condemned the acts of violence. 

 

He urged residents of Kebbi State to report grievances to relevant authorities for resolution rather than resorting to self-help.

 

The Commissioner has tasked the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) with conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding both cases. 

 

The suspects will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

 

The Command further reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and order while urging the public to cooperate by providing credible information to aid security efforts.
