Police in Lagos on Friday arraigned five factory workers at the Ikeja Chief Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing goods worth N11.3 million.
The quintet – Ayodeji Mokuolu (39), Godwin Onyegbule (55), Joseph Odeyimi (46), Abiodun Makinwa (38) and Chibuzor Nguma (39) – were arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy.
They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, had told the court that the defendants committed the offences on November 16, 2024, at Zaika Foods Limited, Ikeja.
Akeem said the defendants conspired and stole five cartons of soya oil, mayonnaise, and some seasonings all valued at N11.3 million.
According to him, the defendants were caught trying to take the goods out of the company’s premises.
He said the offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kushanu granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
She adjourned the case till January 23 for mention.
