Dele-Bashiru Ignites Transfer Speculation Among Super Eagles Fans

Nigerian midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has become the talk of the transfer market, reportedly catching the eye of several Premier League clubs after a spectacular start to life with SS Lazio in Italy.

The 23-year-old joined Lazio on loan from Turkish side Hatayspor in July 2024, in a deal worth €2 million, with an obligation to buy based on performance.

Since his arrival, the dynamic midfielder has wasted no time in making an impression, dazzling both in Serie A and the Europa League.

In just four Europa League appearances, Dele-Bashiru has racked up two goals and two assists, while also contributing two crucial goals in 11 Serie A matches, including a headline-grabbing equalizer against high-flying Atalanta in December.

According to Lazio News 24, his red-hot form has put him on the radar of top Premier League clubs, fueling speculation of a sensational return to England.

For Dele-Bashiru, who was born in Hamburg but raised in England, this would mark a homecoming to the league where his football journey began.

The midfielder spent 11 years at Manchester City’s academy, winning the U18 Premier League Cup, before launching his professional career at Sheffield Wednesday in 2020.

There, he played a pivotal role in the Owls’ promotion to the Championship two years later.

After moving to Hatayspor in 2023, Dele-Bashiru took the Turkish Süper Lig by storm, scoring eight goals and finishing as the club’s joint-top scorer.

His last-day heroics helped Hatayspor avoid relegation, earning him a swift move to Lazio just a year later.

In Rome, his performances have only amplified his reputation, earning him five caps for Nigeria’s Super Eagles and two vital international goals—one in a World Cup qualifier against South Africa and another in an AFCON qualifier against Libya.

With his stock soaring, a return to the Premier League is looking increasingly likely for Dele-Bashiru, who appears destined for even greater heights in his football career.
