Humanoid robot manufacturer UBTech, based in Shenzhen, China, has announced a new collaboration with Foxconn, Apple’s Chinese manufacturing partner, to employ its robots in the production of iPhones.
The Walker S1 robot is intended for applications such as quality inspections, package delivery, and component assembly, and the partnership seeks to advance AI development in manufacturing.
Prioritizing duties that affect workers’ health and improving robot skills, UBTech has finished training for logistics operations at Foxconn’s facilities and intends to implement robots at Foxconn’s EV production.

Robots from UBTech are already being trained to do a variety of manufacturing-related jobs, including those for the automobile, computer, and consumer electronics industries.
“For car manufacturing, there [are] thousands of tasks on our list,” UBTech’s chief brand officer Michael Tam said. “In areas like 3C production, [these are] new skills for humanoid robots to learn,” he added. In case you are unaware, 3C refers to computers, communication, and consumer electronics.
