Monaco Surprises with Bold Bid for Wilfred Ndidi – Will Leicester City Agree to Let Him Go?

French Ligue 1 giants Monaco are reportedly considering a move for Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi during the ongoing January transfer window.

Ndidi has been a key player for Leicester City since joining the club from KRC Genk in 2017.

The Nigerian defensive midfielder has made 289 appearances for the Foxes, contributing 18 goals and 21 assists across all competitions.

Ndidi signed a new contract with the foxes in the summer.

Once regarded as one of the top midfielders in the Premier League, Ndidi even attracted interest from Manchester United several years ago.

However, a series of injuries and a dip in form have hindered his progress in recent seasons.

At 28 years old, Ndidi remains a crucial part of Leicester’s midfield, helping the club achieve success in recent years.

This season, he started strongly, playing in 15 Premier League games before suffering an injury in early December 2024. He has since missed eight matches for Leicester.

As Ndidi recovers, his performances have caught the eye of other clubs, with Monaco reportedly looking to secure his services.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the French club is exploring the possibility of bringing Ndidi in on loan, with an option to buy included in the deal.

However, Leicester City is reportedly reluctant to let go of the player, valuing him highly.

Leicester City is in a strong position to retain Ndidi, as he still has over two years remaining on his current contract. Nonetheless, the Nigerian midfielder may be tempted by a new challenge and could consider leaving the East Midlands.

Ndidi is valued at €18 million on Transfermarkt, though Leicester is likely to demand a higher fee.

If Monaco meets their asking price and Ndidi is open to a move, the Foxes may be persuaded to part ways with their star midfielder.
