Speed Darlington Signals Possible Legal Dispute with Burna Boy Following His Arrest and Detention

Controversial Nigerian musician, Darlington Achakpo Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, or AKPI, has taken to social media to suggest that there may be an upcoming legal battle with singer Burna Boy over his arrest and detention.

The musician in a post shared on his Instagram page hinted that efforts are underway by his lawyer Mr David Ihuoma and his defense counsel to drag Burna Boy to court for violating his human right.

Speed Darlington also revealed that he will be demanding the sum of N300 million in damages as he is set to drag Burna Boy more than he dragged a bank that violated him two years ago.

‘‘Thank you  Mazi David Ihuoma Esq. We going all the way! They must pay me for violating my human right 300 million naira. We will drag them more than Stanley and I dragged that bank that violated me two years ago.’’ The musician wrote on his Instagram page.

His comments come a day after Burna Boy in a post on his social media page warned Speed Darlington not to mess around with him again else he will return to where he came from.

As a note of warning following his release, Burna Boy has penned a note of warning to Speed Darlington to stop messing around with him else he’ll return to prison and this time there will be no mercy.

“If you like, misbehave again, you’ll go to where you came from! And this time around there would be no mercy! #Dontmesswithodg” Burna Boy wrote on his Instagram page.

Speed Darlington was initially arrested by police in October 2024 after Burna Boy filed a petition against him with the police. He was then re-arrested on November 27, 2024, while performing at a show in Owerri, Imo State, after being accused of cyberstalking Burna Boy.

His release was confirmed on Wednesday by his lawyer Stan Alieke who disclosed in a post on his Instagram page that Speed Darlington finally regained his freedom and had joined his family after Burna Boy subjected his client to what he described as two months of ‘illegal detention’.
