Amid cheers from a crowd of supporters gathered at the Speaker’s Lodge in Ikeja, Lagos,

Mudashiru Obasa, the recently impeached Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has spoken out for the first time since his dramatic removal from office.

Obasa, while addressing a crowd of supporters gathered at the Speaker’s Lodge in Ikeja on Saturday, described the events leading to his impeachment as flawed and unconstitutional.

“It is important for the lawmakers to follow constitutional procedure if they intend to remove a speaker,” he said firmly, his voice cutting through the tension that had gripped the state’s political scene.

Refuting allegations of corruption leveled against him by the assembly members, Obasa dismissed the claims as baseless and impractical. “The accusations of financial misappropriation brought against me are impossible. They are simply not true,” he stated, his tone resolute.

“I am not disturbed, I am not afraid,” Obasa declared, adding that the current developments at the assembly were not enough to shake his resolve.

The political storm surrounding his impeachment continues to unfold, with the focus now shifting to the legal and constitutional implications of the lawmakers’ actions. For now, Obasa remains at the center of the drama, maintaining his innocence and questioning the legitimacy of his removal.

This is a developing story.
