Gunmen on Friday killed a professor at the Delta State University, Abraka, Emeka Chukwuma.
The 56-year-old varsity teacher was killed in his hometown in Umueji, Asaba, after he returned to the community for the weekend.
The spokesman for the state police command, Bright Edafe, confirmed the killing.
He said police operatives are on the killers’ trail.
“Yes, the incident has been reported to the police. The command has deployed police operatives to go after the killers and fish them out,” the spokesman added.
