A US Army Blackhawk helicopter collided with a passenger plane near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Washington, D.C., late Tuesday, sparking a search-and-rescue operation in the Potomac River.
Video of the mid-air crash, which reportedly also involved an American Airlines jet, was posted on X.
The DC Police Department said in a statement that there is “no confirmed information on casualties at this time.”
“There are many agencies that are working on this response right now, both federal and local law enforcement are working together on the ground, to try to save as many lives as possible. And the President will continue to monitor this situation,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said, according to CNN.
“The thoughts and prayers of the entire Trump administration are with all those involved,” Leavitt added.
This is breaking news that will be updated as more information becomes available.
