PRP Challenges Atiku to Present Evidence of Opposition Parties Accepting Bribes from Tinubu’s Administration

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), has thrown an open challenge to former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to provide evidence that opposition party leaders were given N50m bribe by the President Bola Tinubu’s administration to undermine Nigeria’s democratic process.

The former VP had Monday, while speaking as a panellist at a national conference on strengthening democracy in Nigeria in Abuja, warned that the country was in jeopardy as the federal government had bribed leaders of opposition parties to compromise the hard-earned democracy.

“I want to make this public. I met with leaders of a political party in the opposition, and they openly admitted that this government gives them N50m each,” Atiku had asserted.

But while reacting to the allegations, the PRP, in a statement on Friday signed by National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Muhammed Ishaq, challenged Atiku to provide proof of the proofs to back up his claims.

In the statement titled “Atiku Abubakar: Bring out your proof,” the opposition party said it vehemently rejects the allegations as its leaders could never descend to the level of accepting bribes to undermine Nigeria’s democracy.

“The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) expresses its astonishment and deep concern regarding recent statements made by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),” the party said.

“His serious allegations against the leadership of opposition political parties, particularly the claim that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is allegedly compensating opposition leaders with N50 million each to undermine Nigeria’s democratic process—demand closer scrutiny.

“The political landscape in Nigeria, dominated by the two major right-wing parties, the PDP and the APC, has long been characterized by procedural similarities that have perpetuated systemic corruption, unaccountable governance, and widespread hardship for the Nigerian populace. For the past 26 years, both parties have contributed to the erosion of integrity in our political systems.

“The PRP firmly rejects Alhaji Atiku’s insinuations. As a party that is committed to advocating for a corruption-free political environment, we call for a thorough investigation into these allegations, including the disclosure of any party leaders who may have accepted N50 million monthly from President Tinubu and the APC government.

“We categorically affirm that the PRP has not engaged in, is not engaged in, and will not engage in the bribery and corruption that have long plagued our nation’s governance. We challenge anyone—including the APC-led government and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar—to provide substantiating evidence to the contrary. Our unwavering commitment to integrity reflects our dedication to transparency and accountability in all dealings.

“In conclusion, we urge Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to reflect on his own political history before casting accusations against others. The PRP remains resolute in our mission to advocate for the true redemption of Nigeria—one that is liberated from the chains of corruption, deceit, and hypocrisy.”
