The event, which took place at the RockView Hotel in Apapa, Lagos, was a gathering of party delegates and officials from both national and state levels, marking a new chapter in the NNPP’s leadership.
The convention, which began at 9 p.m. and stretched into the early hours of Wednesday, saw an enthusiastic turnout from the party’s members, signaling their commitment to reshaping the political landscape.
In addition to Major’s election, key officers were elected to vital positions within the party.
Oginni Olaposi was chosen as the National Secretary, while Chief Felix Chukwurah was appointed as the Deputy National Chairman for the South.
The Deputy National Chairman for the North position was secured by Babayo Muhammed, with Adetoyese Omokanye taking on the role of National Treasurer.

Abdulrasaq Abdulsallam will serve as the National Publicity Secretary, bringing fresh energy to the party’s communication strategy.
The delegates also elected Hajia Aisha Kade as the National Woman Leader, a strategic move to strengthen the party’s focus on gender inclusion. Edward Ofomona will lead as the National Youth Leader, embodying the party’s vision for a youth-driven future.
Omolara Johnson was named National Organizing Secretary, alongside other key appointments that reflect the party’s efforts to renew and expand its influence.
Members of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), the National Working Committee (NEC), and other elective office holders were in attendance, offering their full support for the reorganization process.
This shift in leadership comes at a time when the NNPP is undergoing significant restructuring. On November 1, 2024, the Abia High Court had directed the BoT, led by Founder Boniface Aniebonam, to reposition and reconstitute the party’s organs, from the ward congress level to the national convention.
