The administration of Governor Bassey Otu has reaffirmed its commitment to prioritising security and infrastructure as key drivers for sustainable development in Cross River State.
This was disclosed by the Special Adviser on Projects/Programmes Monitoring and Evaluation, Mr Raphael Morphy, during a spot assessment of critical infrastructure alongside the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon Emmanuel Ironbar. The exercise marked the commencement of the department’s 2025 Monitoring and Evaluation tour.
Speaking during the inspection, Morphy highlighted Governor Otu’s determination to invest in security, stating that the administration is partnering with and supporting security agencies to ensure optimal performance. He further revealed that since the governor’s assumption of office, the infrastructure deficit in the state has been reduced by over 40%.
According to Mr Morphy, the ultimate goal of the administration is to accelerate infrastructure development while boosting key investments to improve the well-being of the people.
“These efforts include enhancing workers’ welfare, expanding educational opportunities, improving healthcare access, reforming the solid mineral sector, advancing the digital economy, and promoting agricultural mechanisation, among other initiatives,” he added.
On his part Chief of Staff, Hon. Ironbar, also commended Governor Otu for his significant contributions to improving security across the state. He noted progress in road construction, renovation of security office buildings, and the provision of operational vehicles to enhance crime-fighting efforts.
Hon. Ironbar described the ongoing initiatives as just the tip of the iceberg, assuring residents that Governor Otu remains focused on delivering on his mandate to foster peace and development in Cross River State.
