NGX: Guinea Insurance and Eterna Lead Trading as Investors Earn N322 Billion

The Nigerian equities market maintained its bullish momentum on Wednesday as investors gained N322 billion at the close of the day’s trading.

This followed the surge in the share prices of stocks like GUINEA INSURANCE, ETERNA, and CADBURY amongst others on the trading floor.

After five hours of trading at the capital market, the equity capitalization rose to ₦65.2 trillion from ₦64.8 trillion posted by the bourse on Tuesday.

The benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) increased to 105,324.89 points from 104,788.35 points recorded the previous day.

The market breadth was positive as 36 stocks advanced and 20 stocks declined, while 66 stocks remained unchanged in 14,854 deals.

GUINEA INSURANCE, ETERNA, CADBURY led other gainers with 10%, 9.96% and 9.95% growth each in prices to close at N0.88, N30.35 and N24.30 from the previous N0.80, N27.60 and N22.10 per share.

MAY & BAKER, ACADEMY, and THOMASWY led other price decliners with 9.86%, 9.33%, and 9.31% dip in share prices to close at N7.75, N2.72 and N1.85 from the previous N8.60, N3.00 and N2.04 per share.

On the volume index, ACCESS CORP led trading with 473 million shares in 1,282 deals followed by FBNH which traded 99 million shares in 733 deals.

UACN traded 46 million shares in 121 deals.

On the value index, ACCESS CORP traded stocks worth N12.5 billion in 1, 282 deals followed by FBNH which traded equities worth N3 billion in 733 deals.

ZENITH BANK traded shares valued at N2.2 billion in 774 deals.
