The Nigerian equities market opened the week on a bearish note on Monday, February 10, 2025, however, investors gained N477 billion on the trading floor of the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX).
This follows a surge in the share prices of stocks like BETAGLAS, STANBIC, and SMURFIT amongst others on the trading floor.
After five hours of trading at the capital market, the equity capitalization surged to ₦66.069 trillion from ₦65.592 trillion which the bourse recorded on Friday, February 7, 2025.
The benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) decreased to 105,891.33 points from 105,933.03 points which were recorded the previous trading day.
The market breadth was positive as 44 stocks advanced and 23 stocks declined, while 55 stocks remained unchanged at 17,843 deals.
BETAGLAS, STANBIC, SMURFIT led other gainers with 10% growth each in prices to close at N95.15, N68.20 and N0.22 from the previous N86.50, N62.00 and N0.20 per share.
INTENEGINS, RTBRISCOE, and JBERGER led other price decliners with 10%, 9.63%, and 8.44% decline each in share prices to close at N2.25, N2.44 and N128.00 from the previous N2.50, N2.70 and N139.80 per share.
On the volume index, NSLTECH led trading with 84 million shares in 1207 deals followed by FIDELITYBK which traded 67 million shares in 596 deals.
ACCESSCORP traded 40 million shares in 852 deals.
On the value index, FIDELITYBK topped as the security traded stock worth N1.3 billion in 596 deals followed by ZENITHBANK which traded equities worth N1.2 billion in 852 deals.
