Thousands of Nigerian Refugees Repatriate from Chad After Ten Years

More than 3,600 Nigerians who fled to Chad a decade ago to escape jihadist violence have returned home in recent days, according to an aid agency spokesman.

The returnees arrived since Monday in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, aboard trucks from the Chadian town of Baga Sola, where they had been taking refuge since 2014.

Abdullahi Ibrahim Umar, spokesman for the Borno State Emergency Management Agency, confirmed the movement, highlighting the challenges ahead in resettling and reintegrating the returnees into communities still recovering from insurgency.
