Spanish powerhouse Atlético Madrid are considering a move for Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman as they prepare for life after Antoine Griezmann.
Griezmann, 33, has been a key figure for Diego Simeone’s side, scoring 196 goals and providing 90 assists in 423 appearances. However, with his contract set to expire in 2026, reports suggest he could leave for Major League Soccer (MLS) at the end of the 2024/25 season.
According to Fichajes, Atlético are looking for a dynamic forward who can replace Griezmann while forming a lethal partnership with Julián Álvarez. The club has identified Lautaro Martinez, Alexander Isak, and Ademola Lookman as potential signings.
While Martinez is Simeone’s ideal choice, his status as Inter Milan’s main man and a €100 million valuation make the deal nearly impossible. Newcastle’s Isak is another option, but prying him away from the Premier League could be challenging.
Lookman’s versatility, speed, and finishing ability make him a perfect fit for Simeone’s high-intensity system. With Atlético keen to reinforce their attack, a summer move for the Super Eagles star could be on the horizon.
