Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye has engaged with fellow Heads of Government in discussions aimed at strengthening diplomatic ties with their respective countries.
President Diomaye held these discussions on the sidelines of the 38th African Union (AU) Summit in Addis Ababa.
During the summit, he met with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed at the National Palace, focusing on bilateral cooperation and the challenges of African integration. He also held talks with Kenyan President William Ruto and Angolan President João Lourenço to explore ways to enhance cooperation and address development challenges.
In high-level discussions, the Senegalese President emphasised the importance of strengthening health system financing through internal resources. He specifically called for adherence to the Abuja Declaration, which mandates that 15% of national budgets be allocated to the health sector.
President Diomaye also met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres to discuss the pressing crises at both regional and international levels. He underscored the urgent need for enhanced regional security to promote stability across the continent.
