A businessman, Ismaila Awoyinka, was ambushed and shot dead by unidentified gunmen shortly after performing the Taraweeh prayer in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

According to eyewitnesses, Awoyinka, a dealer in building materials, had just left the mosque when assailants dressed in white clothing arrived on a motorcycle and shot him at close range.
Residents were left in shock as news of his assassination spread, drawing a large crowd to his residence.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Taiwo Adegoroye, Chairman of Odigbo LGA, has expressed deep concern over the security situation, describing the assassination as a tragic loss.
Meanwhile, the Ondo Police Command has launched an investigation into the killing of Awoyinka.
ASP Funmilayo Odunlami, the command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident on Sunday in Okitipupa, stating, “Investigation is ongoing to unravel the assassination of the businessman.”
