Video: US ally rejects calls to boycott US Navy after Trump, Zelensky fallout

Norway has confirmed that it will continue to supply fuel for U.S. Navy ships following a Norwegian fuel supplier’s threats to boycott the U.S. Navy in the aftermath of President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance’s clash with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday.

In a statement obtained by Reuters, Tore Sandvik, Norway’s defense minister, said, “We have seen reports raising concerns about support for U.S. Navy vessels in Norway. This is not in line with the Norwegian government’s policy.”

According to Reuters, the Norwegian defense minister made it clear that the U.S. ally will not boycott the U.S. Navy amid the fallout from Trump and Vance’s meeting with Zelensky. Sandvik said, “American forces will continue to receive the supply and support they require from Norway.”

According to Fox News, Norway’s commitment to continue supplying fuel for U.S. Navy ships comes amid a boycott threat from Haltbakk Bunkers, a private Norwegian fuel supplier. The outlet noted that Haltbakk Bunkers released a statement on Facebook; however, the post has since been deleted.

“Huge credit to the president of Ukraine restraining himself and for keeping calm even though USA put on a backstabbing TV show,” Haltbakk Bunkers wrote, according to Fox News. “It made us sick… No Fuel to Americans!”

Gunnar Gran, the CEO of Haltbakk Bunkers, told Kystens Næringsliv, a Norwegian news outlet, “Not a liter will be delivered [to U.S. ships] until Trump is finished.. We run a private company and choose our customers!”

“We lost a lot of revenue. But we have a moral compass,” Gran added. “Now the United States is excluded based on their behavior towards the Ukrainians.”

The boycott threat from the Norwegian fuel supplier came after Trump and Vance clashed with Zelensky during a meeting at the White House on Friday.

“Mr. President, with respect, I think it’s disrespectful for you to come into the Oval Office to try to litigate this in front of the American media,” Vance told Zelensky in response to the Ukrainian president’s demands for security guarantees and his seemingly disrespectful comments toward the Trump administration. “Right now, you guys are going around and forcing conscripts to the front lines, because you have manpower problems. You should be thanking the president for bringing it, to bring it into this country.”

After Zelensky warned that the United States would “feel” the affects of the Russia-Ukraine war “in the future,” Trump said, “You don’t know that. Don’t tell us what we’re going to feel. We’re trying to solve a problem. Don’t tell us what we’re going to feel.”

Trump warned Zelensky that he is “not in a very good position,” is “gambling with the lives of millions of people,” and is “gambling with World War III.”
