Seydou Keïta was a renowned Malian photographer known for his black-and-white portrait photography. His work, primarily taken in Bamako from the 1940s to the 1960s, gained international recognition for its artistic composition and cultural significance. Keïta’s portraits captured the elegance, dignity, and changing styles of Malian society during the post-colonial era. Though his work was largely unknown outside Mali for many years, it gained widespread acclaim in the 1990s when it was exhibited in major international galleries and museums.
