Malian authorities today received a Russian delegation to reinforce security cooperation and address Mali’s current security challenges.
Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, General of the Army Yunus-Bek Evkurov, accompanied by the Russian Ambassador to Mali, Igor Gromyko, was received by Mali’s Transitional President, General Assimi Goïta.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their strategic partnership, emphasizing the positive assessment of military cooperation and discussing measures to further enhance it.
During his visit, General Evkurov also met with Mali’s Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs, Lieutenant General Sadio Camara.
Mali-Russia cooperation has deepened in recent years, particularly since 2021, with agreements on military equipment supply and the training of Malian forces. Both nations have also expressed interest in expanding their collaboration to include economic development and cultural exchanges.
