Bamise: BRT driver knows fate May 2

Justice Sherifat Sonaike of the Lagos State High Court sitting in the Tafawa Balewa Square on Friday reserved judgment in the trial of the Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) driver, Andrew Ominikoron, for the alleged murder of his passenger, Bamise Ayanwola.

The state government arraigned the 47-year-old defendant in March 2022 on a five-count charge of alleged rape, conspiracy, felony, sexual assault, and murder.

The prosecution alleged that Ominikoron conspired with others now at large to rape and murdered the 22-year-old fashion designer on February 26, 2022.

The defendant was also accused of raping a 29-year-old lady Maryjane Odezulu, without her consent.

The judge fixed May 2 as the judgement date following the adoption of the counsel’s final written addresses.
