The House of Representatives on Tuesday, March 18, passed the four tax reform bills that were sent to the National Assembly in October 2024 for third reading.
The bills had previously been considered and approved by the House Committee on Finance, which worked on the bills and reviewed submissions from Nigerians.
The tax reforms have sparked significant controversy, particularly among Northern leaders, the Nigeria Governors Forum, and other interest groups, who have expressed opposition to some of the provisions. Despite these concerns, the bills have now been passed, paving the way for their final approval.
