Four Nigerien Soldiers Die in Alleged Terrorist Assault

Four Nigerien soldiers were killed on Monday morning in an attack by armed militants on a military position in Chetima Wango, in the Diffa region.

Brigadier General Moussa Salaou, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, arrived in Diffa early Tuesday to attend the funeral of the fallen soldiers.

According to state television, the attack was carried out by Boko Haram, the extremist group that has been active in the region.

Since 2015, the Diffa region, which shares a border with Nigeria, has been a frequent target of attacks attributed to Boko Haram and other militant groups.
