ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifiers: Nigeria Bows to Uganda, Finish 6th

The Nigeria Men’s Cricket team on Saturday lost to Uganda by 66 runs in the playoff match for 5th position as the African Qualifiers series ended.

Uganda batted 196 runs and lost 7 wickets in their innings. Riazat Ali played ‘not out’ and posted 66 runs for Uganda.

Nigeria chase on target was restricted to 130 runs and loss of 7 wickets. Captain Sylvester Okpe gave an exceptional performance scoring the highest individual runs 26 and dismissed 2 wickets.

The West African cricket powerhouse prosecuted 5 games in the African Qualifiers series. While Nigeria defeated Malawi and Botswana, they lost to Namibia, Kenya, and Uganda.

The quest for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup tickets for Africa was won by Zimbabwe and Namibia. Both countries will join South Africa as the cricket world cup takes stage in 2026.
