A 23-year-old man was burnt to d3ath while others sustained injuries in a fatal motor accident in Magama Gumau town, Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The accident involving two DAF trucks occurred on Sunday, 13th April 2025, at about 2:00 am.

Spokesperson of the command, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, who confirmed the incident said one of the trucks, loaded with white sand and carrying four occupants, rammed into another truck that had broken down on the roadway.

“The collision resulted in a fire that engulfed both vehicles and their contents, leading to the d3ath of one occupant, Usman Magaji (23), while two others sustained varying degrees of injuries,” the statement read.

“Police operatives attached to the Toro Divisional Police Headquarters, in collaboration with other sister security agencies, responded swiftly. They extinguished the fire and rescued the victims. The injured were rushed to Toro General Hospital, where one of them, identified as Usman Magaji, was certified d3ad by a medical doctor.

“While commiserating with the victims’ families, the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, *CP Sani-Omolari Aliyu, psc(+), mni,* cautioned drivers to adhere strictly to traffic rules.

“He emphasised the importance of placing a warning triangle at least 45 meters behind a broken-down vehicle to give approaching drivers ample time to notice and react safely.
