OPINION: Barr. Alphonsus Ogar Eba Has No Reason to Be Angry With CRS CoS or Governor Otu

Northern Cross River Elders Disown Expelled APC Chairman’s “Irresponsible” Outburst

…No One Should Be More Grateful to APC Than Him

Expelled CRS, APC Chairman, Barr. Alphonsus Eba.

By Joseph Odok

I took a tour to test the popularity of the Chief of Staff (CoS) to the Governor of Cross River State (CRS), Chief Emmanuel Ironbar and most comments I got from people close to me are praise worthy. Some of those who spoke good of him are people that have won my trust over the years. I have been largely kept far and a stranger to my party that took all from me, yet I did not want to be biased in my assessment of.CoS. My decision to inquire about the CoS was because of negative soundbits about him especially from the fall out of the interview of the former Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), CRS Barr Alphonsus Eba with the CRS CoS in Eba’s  recent national Media interview

Has Mr Eba any reason to be angry with APC, CoS or His Excellency Governor Sen. Bassey Edet Otu? I doubt if there is such a reason except for greed and entitlement spirit taken too far. As watchers of CRS we saw Mr Eba do worse when in power with many seeing his predicament as a result of self inflicted arrogance.  Karma may just not be far from taking it’s toll.

Is Eba short of memory or is he deliberately mischievous or blind to the circumstances that brought him as APC, CRS Chairman? Former Governor Liyel Imoke single handedly brought former Governor Ben Ayade who was the most unpopular and least connected to power amongst all contestants for Governor. The circumstances upon which His Excellency Governor Otu became Governor were far more advantagous to succeed as APC gubernatorial candidate than those that gave gubernatorial ticket to Ayade in the Imoke’s People’s Democratic Party (PDP) days

OPINION: Re-Work of Fiction: Linus Obogo’s “The Ghost of a Vanquished Ambition”

What did Ayade do to Imoke immediately he became Governor? He abandoned Liyel,  left PDP to APC, allegedly told people that he bought the ticket from His Excellency Former Governor Liyel Imoke, acted in open disrespect of Imoke (on many occasions right from the day of his inauguration). This treatment is far different from how Gov Otu has treated Ayade with respect and reverence since the day of his inauguration till date. Gov Otu has been wonderful to Ayade, he has organized many occasions to celebrate him in appreciation of the role Ayade played in his emergence as Governor. This is in contrast to the great show of ingratitude of Ayade to Imoke

Ayade immediately formed anti Imoke’s PDP structures with Mr Eba as the arrow head. When it became impossible for Ayade to hijack PDP structures through Eba, he jetted out of APC. After his defection to APC, Ayade forced Eba on APC CRS and completely displaced former members of APC to install his lackeys.

Ayade did not leave a scintilla of Imoke’s structures, he uprooted everything and replaced same with his structures but APC CRS today is still maintaining all structures left by Ayade. Gov Otu must be commended for his respect for Ayade not blackmailed by Eba.  Is Eba not an ingrate after his rising from grass to stupendous wealth and influence due to  Ayade’s impunity? The worst of all is the insolence of Eba in giving impression of the disqualification of Gov Otu and his qualifications by him thereby casting aspersions on the process that brought Otu as Governor. This insult could not have been taken in the days Eba was in charge of Ayade’s ruinous dynasty

How did Eba treat APC’s aggrieved members that went to court in his days as Chairman? Henry Onwe, John Jallo, Sunny Adamede, Francis Ekpenyong (Orator, the current Commissioner for Land) and many others of the old APC stocks that have their sad memories under emperor Eba? They will all be in great shock that Eba off all people took APC to court

How empowered were people when Eba reigned? Of course it is allegations of corruption that led to his current ordeal. I know APC CRS became the worst in rewarding loyalty with most that sacrificed for the party in their graves for neglect or in abject poverty. I know of many diehard APC supporters in CRS especially old members that died because they could not afford medical bills even after public appeals. I know how rich Eba has become, I  don’t know who he lifted, majority of those who were close to him now cry that they benefited nothing as he was eating alone. I know Eba of plenty promises and sweet mouth with zero actions. Who eats alone should die alone in accordance with the laws of karma.
