CRSCF felicitates new Cross River APC executive, urges unity ahead of 2027

By Frank Ulom

CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – The Cross River State Consultative Forum (CRSCF) has congratulated the newly constituted State Executive Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State, led by Hon. Chris Sunny Etta, urging the leadership to promote unity, transparency, and strategic political direction as the state prepares for the 2027 general elections.

In a press statement issued in Calabar on Sunday, the socio-political body described the emergence of the new APC State Executive Council for the 2026–2030 tenure as a critical development in the political trajectory of the state.

The Forum, which identified itself as a public policy think-tank committed to the advancement of Cross River State, expressed confidence in the leadership of Hon. Etta, describing him as a tested and humble individual capable of guiding the party through the next political cycle.

“The Forum is particularly excited by the fact that Hon. Chris Sunny Etta, a tested, unassuming, humble but passionate gentleman, is leading the APC line as the state begins to navigate the political pathway toward the 2027 general elections,” the statement noted.

According to the statement, jointly signed by the Chairman of CRSCF, Hon. Eyo Nsa Ekpo, and the Secretary, Dr Julius Ochim Okpotu, the inauguration of the new executive comes at a time when Cross River State is gradually approaching a series of significant political activities, including party congresses, strategic alignments, and preparations for future elections.

The Forum stressed that the quality of leadership within the ruling party would play a decisive role in shaping the political stability of the state in the coming years.

“The emergence of the new State Executive Council should not be seen merely as a routine internal party development, but as a significant step toward strengthening the institutional capacity of the APC as the governing political party in the state,” the Forum stated.

The group, therefore, urged the new executive council to consolidate internal cohesion within the party and encourage consultation among stakeholders across the three senatorial districts of the state.

It also called on the leadership to maintain transparency, fairness, and inclusiveness in the management of party affairs.

“The Forum believes that consolidating unity within the party, strengthening grassroots structures, and maintaining constructive engagement with stakeholders across the three senatorial districts will be essential to the success of the party and the broader political stability of the state,” the statement added.

CRSCF further emphasised the importance of internal democracy and responsible political engagement, noting that strong political institutions remain fundamental to the progress and development of Cross River State.

Reaffirming its commitment to the long-term stability of the state, the Forum pledged to continue promoting constructive dialogue and governance that reflects the aspirations of the people.

“We wish the Chairman, Hon. Chris Sunny Etta, and members of the newly constituted executive a successful tenure and trust that their leadership will contribute meaningfully to strengthening democratic culture, political stability, and sustainable development in Cross River State,” the statement concluded.
