The Cross River State Police Command and the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), have resolved to strengthen ties working together through mutual commitment to continued partnership and cooperation

The Police and NIMC made this resolve Monday, February 9, when the Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command, CP Rashid Afegbua, alongside members of his management team, received the newly appointed State Coordinator of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Mrs. Nwoye Bridget Ogechukwu (AD), at the Police Headquarters, Calabar.

In a release dated February 9 by Police Public Relations Officer, Asp Sunday Eitokpah Akata for the Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command, said the visit was aimed at strengthening the existing cordial relationship between the Nigeria Police Force and the NIMC.

Speaking on the purpose of her visit, Ogechukwu stated that the engagement was to formally inform the Police Command of NIMC’s ongoing and forthcoming activities, particularly the ward-to-ward National Identification Number (NIN) enrolment exercise scheduled to commence on 16th February, 2026.

She further emphasized the need to explore areas of continued collaboration and support, especially in the areas of security and public sensitization to ensure the success of the exercise across the state.

In his response, CP Afegbua, assured the new State Coordinator of the Command’s unwavering commitment to sustaining and strengthening the long-standing cordial relationship between both institutions.

He reiterated that the Nigeria Police Force remains ever ready to discharge its constitutional duties and provide the necessary support whenever called upon in the interest of national development and public safety.
