The Delivery Vehicle Owners and Drivers Association of Nigeria (DELVAN) has congratulated Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, on their three years in office, describing their administration as purposeful, people-oriented and impactful.

In a statement issued on Friday to mark the anniversary of the administration, the Executive National President of DELVAN, High Chief Comr. Raphael Sabbastine, commended the governor for what he described as remarkable achievements recorded across the state since assuming office in 2023.

Sabbastine, who spoke on behalf of members of the association nationwide, praised the administration’s efforts in improving road infrastructure, maintaining security and creating an enabling environment for businesses and transport operators to thrive in the state.

According to him, DELVAN, as one of the largest transport associations in the country, recognises the strides made by the Otu-led administration in strengthening the transport sector and supporting economic activities across Cross River.

He particularly lauded the harmonisation of the state tax system, noting that the initiative had addressed the long-standing challenge of multiple and illegal taxation affecting transport operators and other business owners.

“We particularly express our profound appreciation for Your Excellency’s bold initiative in harmonising the tax system in the state, thereby eliminating the burden of multiple and illegal taxation which had long posed serious challenges to business operators and transport stakeholders,” the statement read.

The DELVAN president added that the reform had significantly improved the ease of doing business and restored confidence in government policies among transport stakeholders.

He further pledged the association’s continued support and loyalty to the administration, expressing confidence in the governor’s capacity to sustain development and deliver more dividends of democracy to the people of the state.

Sabbastine congratulated Governor Otu and his deputy once again on what he described as “impactful and fulfilling three years in office.”
