Members of the Accord Party in Osun State on Wednesday declared support for Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
The members, who spoke during a rally held in Osogbo, said they had confidence in Olawepo-Hashim’s capacity to lead the party to victory.
Speaking at the rally, the Accord Party spokesman in the state, Daniel Adedayo, said the gathering was convened to formally declare support for Olawepo-Hashim.
Adedayo described him as a leader with the vision and experience required to move the country forward.
He added that party members would support Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election in the August 15 governorship poll and back Olawepo-Hashim for president in 2027.
“Our gathering here today is to declare our support for Olawepo-Hashim as the party’s presidential candidate.
“He is the man the people are waiting for, and we are ready to support him to achieve his aspiration.
“We will vote for Adeleke in the Aug. 15 governorship election, but Olawepo-Hashim is our presidential candidate,” he said.
Also speaking, the party’s women leader, Alhaja Rukayat Olanrewaju, said the rally was held in solidarity with Olawepo-Hashim.
Olanrewaju said Olawepo-Hashim’s emergence reflected confidence in his leadership and vision for a united, peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.
She reiterated that party members would vote massively for Adeleke’s re-election, while supporting Olawepo-Hashim in the presidential election.
The Accord Party national leadership had a few days ago distanced itself from the primary election that produced Olawepo-Hashim as the party’s presidential candidate for next year’s election.
