Nigeria govt launches FreeTV with over 100 free channels on local content

The Federal government has launched a FreeTV, a national digital television platform that will broadcast Nigerian content without monthly subscription fees.

According to the announcement posted on X by the Presidency, the launch on June 17, 2026 “is another important step in the delivery of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which places priority on inclusion, access to opportunity, job creation, local enterprise, and the use of technology to improve everyday life for Nigerians”.
