Fresh tragedy struck two Adara communities in Kufana Ward of Kajuru Local Government Area, Kaduna State, on Thursday night as terrorists attacked Umaso (Rafin Kunu) and Unguwa-Ku villages.
SaharaReporters learnt that the terrorists killed two persons, injuring four others, abducting seven residents, and looting property.
Eyewitnesses told newsmen that the attackers invaded Umaso (Rafin Kunu) chanting “Allahu Akbar” before opening fire indiscriminately on residents, forcing many to flee into nearby bushes for safety.
One of the victims, 23-year-old Luka Aminizeh Alibaba, an orphan, was shot dead during the attack. Three other residents sustained severe gunshot injuries and were rushed to a hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.
The attackers also abducted seven persons from the community. Those confirmed to have been taken away are Mrs. Lami Ali, 40; Mrs. Solomi Zachariah, 30; Mrs. Beauty Alpha, 29; Abednego Alpha, 10; Jonah Alpha, 7; Samson Alpha, a six-month-old infant; and one other victim whose identity had yet to be confirmed as of the time of filing this report.
Residents said the assailants left Umaso (Rafin Kunu) and proceeded to neighbouring Unguwa-Ku, where they launched another deadly assault.
During the attack, 25-year-old Manasseh Mathew sustained serious gunshot injuries and is currently receiving medical attention. His elder brother, aged 32, was shot and killed instantly.
Before fleeing the community, the attackers reportedly looted food items, livestock and other valuables belonging to residents, leaving many families devastated.
The latest attacks have thrown the affected communities into mourning, with families grieving the loss of loved ones while anxiously awaiting news of those abducted.
Speaking on behalf of the affected families, Mr. Onnusim Alhaji Ishaya condemned the attacks and called on security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the abducted victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.
He appealed to the Kaduna State Government and relevant security authorities to strengthen security in vulnerable communities across Kajuru Local Government Area to prevent further attacks.
As of the time of this report, security agencies had yet to issue an official statement on the incident, while efforts to secure the release of the abducted victims were said to be ongoing.
SaharaReporters on Thursday had reported that suspected terrorists abducted six Almajiri pupils during an attack on Unguwar Gere in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to local sources, the terrorists invaded the community at about 6:30pm on Wednesday and intercepted the pupils as they were returning from a nearby farm.
The children were reportedly close to entering the village when they were seized by the attackers.
Residents from neighbouring communities, assisted by soldiers stationed at the Supa Camp in Kuyallo, mobilised and engaged the attackers in an effort to rescue the victims.
The joint response reportedly forced the terrorists to retreat.
However, despite being repelled, the attackers escaped with the six abducted Almajiri pupils.
SaharaReporters learnt that the six abducted Almajiri pupils had been identified as Abdul Mali Malam, Al Amin Biyar, Abdurrahman Sama Ila, Jamilu Malam, Usumanu Bilya and Abdul Ganiyu Samaila.
As of the time of filing this report, security authorities had yet to issue an official statement on the incident, while efforts to rescue the abducted children were said to be ongoing.
