Isaac Fayose says Ayo Fayose deserves ministerial role, not REA chairmanship

Isaac Fayose has said his elder brother, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, deserves a more prominent federal appointment than the newly announced chairmanship of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).

Reacting in a video shared on his Instagram page on Monday, Isaac argued that the former governor’s political experience and influence made him better suited for positions such as minister or ambassador rather than heading the board of a federal agency.

“They said they gave my brother DG, not a minister, not ambassador. They gave him chairman of a parastatal. They couldn’t give him minister, they couldn’t give him ambassador,” he said.

His remarks followed the Presidency’s announcement appointing Ayo Fayose as chairman of the REA board alongside several others named into the leadership of federal agencies and commissions.

Isaac also questioned the timing of the appointment, suggesting it came shortly after former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi visited his residence.

“They gave my brother DG because Obi came on Saturday to visit me. So they said, no, we must enter that family,” he claimed.

The younger Fayose recalled that his brother had previously insisted he would not seek public office after leaving the Ekiti State Government House, choosing instead to focus on his private business.

“But my brother told me, ‘When I leave Government House, I will not be a minister, I will not be DG, I will not be senator. I will face my business,’” he said.

Describing the appointment as a “Greek gift,” Isaac urged his brother to hand the position over to his son if he eventually accepts it.

“Congrats on your appointment. You better give your son. Please don’t use that kind of appointment. You are too big for that. Afobaje ni e,” he said.

Isaac also reiterated his confidence in the opposition’s chances ahead of the 2027 general election, insisting the political landscape would favour change.
