From Shafa’atu Suleiman, Sokoto
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sokoto State has unveiled the member representing Illela/Gwadabawa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Bello Isah Ambarura, as the running mate to its governorship candidate, Hon. Manir Dan’Iya, for the 2027 general elections.
The party said Ambarura’s emergence completes its governorship ticket and reinforces its resolve to present a credible and experienced team to contest the state’s top office.
According to the party’s Caretaker Committee Publicity Secretary, Lamir Aminu, the ADC described Ambarura as a seasoned grassroots politician and accomplished technocrat with vast experience in public service and legislative leadership.
According to the party, Ambarura rose through the ranks of the Sokoto State Civil Service to become a Permanent Secretary before retiring and serving as a commissioner.
“He later won election into the Sokoto State House of Assembly, where he served as Majority Leader, before being elected to the House of Representatives.”
“His nomination marks another milestone in our preparations for the 2027 elections. We are confident that he possesses the competence and vision to provide effective leadership for the state.”
The party said Ambarura’s wealth of experience in public administration and legislative service would complement Dan’Iya’s leadership, describing the pair as a capable, credible and people-centred ticket.
“We appeal to the people of Sokoto State to support the Dan’Iya-Ambarura ticket, because it offers the best opportunity for good governance and sustainable development.”
Reacting to the nomination, the media aide to the governorship candidate, Aminu Abdullahi, commended the party leadership, elders and stakeholders for the confidence reposed in Ambarura.
He said the consensus that produced the deputy governorship candidate reflected the ADC’s internal democracy, unity and commitment to placing the collective interest of Sokoto State above personal ambitions.
Abdullahi added that the combination of Dan’Iya’s experience in governance and financial management with Ambarura’s record in public administration and legislative leadership would provide the state with a balanced team capable of addressing its developmental challenges.
He further said Dan’Iya remains committed to implementing policies that will prioritise security, quality education, healthcare, youth and women empowerment, agriculture, economic growth, infrastructure development and transparent governance if elected in 2027.
