Gov Otu suspends Cocoa Allocation Taskforce & Surveillance Team, payments of govt lease fee

Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has suspended the Cocoa Allocation Taskforce and Surveillance Team.

The Governor also suspended further payments of government lease fees in the concerned area.

According to a press release signed by Mr Nsa Gill, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor on Thursday, 2nd May 2024, the suspensions are with immediate effect and till further notice.

The release further directed the Cocoa Allocation Chairman to inform the banks accordingly.

“His Excellency, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, Governor of Cross River State has directed the following:

1. The immediate suspension of the Cocoa Allocation Taskforce and Surveillance Team, set up by the Cocoa Allocation Committee; operating in the four (4) Government-owned Cocoa Estates in Etung LGA.

2. Accordingly, further payments of government lease fees in the concerned area are also suspended till further notice.

“The Cocoa Allocation Chairman is further directed to inform the Banks accordingly,” the statement read.
