…Releases Funds for Processing of Their International Passports
The Founder and General Overseer of Omega Power Ministry (OPM), HRM King Apostle Dr Chibuzor Chinyere, has secured international employment for 104 Nigerian youths, who will now travel to Saudi Arabia to work with an oil servicing company, following a rigorous recruitment and training process facilitated by the ministry.
Addressing newsmen in Port Harcourt on Friday 31st July during their medical examinations, King Chinyere says that he has dedicated his time for the Ministry and humanitarian engagements especially in assisting the poor and the less privileged.
” It is part of my humanitarian work in assisting the less privileged like we have built free schools, free hospitals , free estates and free acquisition center” he said;
According to Apostle Chinyere, the placement is the latest fruit of OPM’s welfare mandate, which includes a free school and free oil and gas training programme for underprivileged Nigerians. The ministry runs a multi-skill acquisition centre offering 26 free training in pipeline laying, rigging, electrical and electronics work, mechanical trades, and scaffolding etc.
However, he noted that certification alone was not enough, trainees needed jobs after graduation, prompting him to travel and network in search of employers willing to hire them.
” We have multi skills acquisition center where we train people in different vocational skills Free of charge. When they finish their training the problem is that there is no job”
That search led to a partnership with a Saudi Arabia-based oil company, which sent a team to Nigeria to conduct its own independent screening of candidates.
” Since we finished training them and no job, I decided to start searching, start traveling out of the country and looking for companies that can employ them, so by the Grace of God, I was able to meet this Saudi Arabia oil servicing company and they need different people in various fields ”
Apostle Chinyere was emphatic that the company covered its own flights and accommodation and declined all offers of hospitality, including paying for their own hotel stay and turning down a dinner invitation, to ensure the recruitment process remained untainted by outside influence. Of those who sat for the assessment, 104 candidates were successful.
The successful candidates will receive visas, flight tickets, free accommodation, and feeding from the employer at no cost to themselves.
Apostle Chinyere said he is personally funding the processing of their international passports and medical examinations, with the group expected to visit the immigration office to begin the passport process.
” I have personally released funds for the payment of an international passport for 104 people” he said;
Asked about his motivation, Apostle Chinyere attributed the initiative to his Christian faith and a personal history of hardship, recalling a period when he slept under a bridge.
” My motivation is passion for God because Church is not every Sunday you clap hands and praise God alone, as you preach the word of God you look for how jobless members should be empowered, that’s why I built free acquisition center so that the Youth can be trained”
He said this experience shapes his continued outreach to the less privileged, including a home-building initiative for the poor.
He stressed that beneficiaries of the programme cut across religious and ethnic lines, citing two candidates from Muslim backgrounds in Gombe State among the 104, as well as a group of children of policemen who died in active service, whom he had earlier placed on international scholarships at the recommendation of a former Inspector General of Police’s wife.
Apostle Chinyere said he charges beneficiaries nothing for the opportunity, asking only that they pay the support forward by helping others once they are established abroad, noting that previous batches of beneficiaries have gone on to support their families and build homes for relatives back home.
“My advice to the beneficiaries is that they were helped to help others. They should not forget those they need to help”
This kind gesture places OPM as the first Church in the world to secure massive international job to members of the society and the first Church to build a largest multi-skills acquisition center.
The Saudi Arabia placement is only the latest in a string of welfare interventions by the ministry.
The ministry has recently also stepped in to empower Nigerian men and women who returned home from South Africa following xenophobic attacks on Nigerians there, helping them rebuild their livelihoods.
Apostle Chinyere through tithes and offerings from OPM built 19 free estates one of which is where South Africa Returnees are being accommodated and also awarded scholarships to their children.
Recall that OPM has through Tithes and offerings built 19 free estates, two free specialist hospitals, 43 free schools, One Free School for children living with disabilities, one free girls technical college and more than 10,000 local and overseas scholarships.
