INEC publishes Omoaje’s name as Action Alliance presidential candidate

Ahead of next year’s presidential election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday published the name of Aare Adekunle Rufai Omoaje as the presidential candidate of the Action Alliance (AA).

The commission, in a published document containing the list of all the presidential candidates and their running mates, indicated the name of Omoaje as the party’s candidate for the presidential election under the platform of the AA.

Omoaje’s name appears alongside those of the presidential candidates of other political parties, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The action by INEC was in line with the Electoral Act, which stipulates that the names of candidates be released before the conduct of the election.

Omoaje, while commenting on the development, said he is fully prepared for the election, just as he lauded the electoral body for the painstaking efforts it has made in preparation for the election.

He reiterated the commitment of the Action Alliance to a united and secure nation, saying he is prepared to make a meaningful difference in government.

The AA presidential hopeful expressed confidence in the ability of the Prof. Joash Amupitan-led INEC to organise a free, fair and credible general election next January.
