Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, the Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun; the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo; and Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, will lead dignitaries today as Majlis Ansarullah, the elders’ group of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria, celebrates its 50th anniversary in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
According to a statement by media lead, Dr. Qasim Akinreti, the six-day conference features courtesy visits to traditional, political, government, and security leaders across Abeokuta.
The highlights of the conference included a two-day free medical camp at General Hospital, Iberekodo, opened by the Head of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria, Alhaji Alatoye Folorunso Azeez. Today’s main event, themed Faith-Based Solutions to Global Challenges, will be held at Lisabi Grammar School, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta.
It will also feature activities, including lectures on topical issues, prayers for Nigeria, sporting events, speech contests, Quranic recitations, and quiz competitions.
The programme drew participants from Benin Republic, Ghana, South Africa, Kenya, Cameroon, and Sierra Leone.
Other expected dignitaries include the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Prof. Saka Adelola Matemilola, and the Orunda of Olorunda, Oba Joshua Olusegun Philips Ogunsola.
Chief Imams from Egbaland, Yewaland, Ijebuland, Remoland, and across Yoruba land, Edo, and Delta States will also be present.
Also expected at the programme are Senators Ibikunle Amosun, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), and Shuaib Afolabi Salisu; Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, Minister of State for Health; Speaker, Oludaisi Elemide; Chief Judge, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu; the CAN Chairman of Ogun State; and leaders from the academia, security agencies, and Muslim organisations.
