Watford legend, Troy Deeney, has explained why Manchester United is struggling so far this season under their manager, Michael Carrick.
Man United currently sits in the 12th position on the Premier League table after five matches.
The Red Devils have won one, drawn two and lost two of their five Premier League matches under Carrick.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Deeney believes Man United is struggling this season because Carrick is trying to force Marcus Rashford into his starting lineup.
“I will make it sound like it’s a Marcus Rashford thing, but you had something that worked, with Cunha, Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes, and it’s just that number nine, that is an issue.
“Sesko’s out, and now you are messing with the thing that was working to appease Marcus Rashford, who, by the way, has been bang average.
“I think the part of the problem is that you have gone back to the cycle again. Rashford wasn’t in your plans,” Deeney said.
Rashford, who is yet to score a goal or provide an assist for Man United, failed to join Barcelona on a permanent transfer after his loan deal expired at the end of last season.
